Have checked the casting and stamped numbers and it is a 1966 engine. The last two nights I took some purple power to it. I still need to remove brackets, coil, distributor, intake and exhaust manifolds so I can clean more of it, but it's cleaned up nicely thus far. The head has lots of curves to it where the sparks plugs go, so the head will be more time consuming. I am going to pour some MMO or ATF in the cylinders and maybe on top of the valves a day before doing the compression check.

I can't remember if I mentioned this, but I did find an HEI distributor for it off craigslist, will be making that payment on Friday. Tomorrow or Friday I'll be getting a compression gauge.

Here's the latest pics of the engine...

From what I've read, Alpine Green/Detroit Diesel Green is the color of the engine, so I need to get some cans of that so I can get things painted up after it's all been cleaned real good.
Lol, I was just about to ask if that was Alpine Green. Iirc, the last time I ordered any, I found a six pack of engine enamel spray cans on Amazon.

I'm hoping my parts store has it or can get it. They have some odd colors, so I think they'll be able to get it for me.

It wasn't very common around me, I can't recall if I looked at Eastwood or Summit, they're usually my first stops for something like that. But even getting through Amazon, it took a while. I guess it's not a commonly requested color anymore.

Basically that truck with the tool box is where I parked mine, and also backed in that spot before going in the office area.

We have a few car clubs here, so hopefully those have a high enough demand for the older stores to have it.

Duplicolor makes Detriot Diesel Alpine Green #DE1618 I have one at the house that I bought a few years ago for my model truck engines. I think I got it at Napa or Oreilly's.
