So the 87 cab I got the other day has some dents and rust. The main dents I've seen are on the backside of the cab where the bed meets it. Guessing something slid up and hit cab not sure. Heres pics of everything

Honestly my 85 cab is in better shape imo it would require a lot less body work than this cab it only needs cab corners and rockers and the dash in the 85 cab isn't cut. Any suggestions would be great.

For the rust you could use your other cab to create patch panels for this new can with the good vin. You could also do the same for that dented portion on the back of the cab but someone with more bodywork experience will chime in hopefully.

i think you can find a better core to start with, but if the price was right you have the time to straighten it out, its possible. do you have a good mig welder?

I'm thinking about just swapping out dashes since the 85 cab is in much better shape than this cab. The only reason I bought this cab and went to the hellacious trouble of pulling it off and bringing it home was the fact it had a good vin # with matching title. The 85 cab only needs some rust repair in the rockers and cab corners but I could use metal off this cab for it. Seems like it would be less of a headache and a lot less time.

I have scrapped far better cabs than that 87 cab

swap the vin or the whole dash

don't waste your time fixing that cab

I'd swap the dash, I think that's technically legal as far as the title goes.

I think the dash swap is going to be the best thing less time consuming as well
