I saw this Dana 60 front axle on Facebook marketplace for $400.00 and had to jump on it. It's a 3.73 ratio and it's tight. Newer rotors and calipers.

I'd have bought that even if I didn't need it.

Yeah, LOL I had to do that because I have no level pavement when I swapped out my G wagen engine .

Excellent deal even if you don't have a dually to put it under. If you plan to convert it to SRW spindles expect it to cost you about another $500. But really that was a great buy. I paid $700 for mine, crusty rusty, had to change spindles, new brake calipers and pads, new kingpin bushing kit, new re-gear...I have way too much in mine.

You all realize that until you swap out the stub shafts to D70 parts, the D60 shafts are no stronger than a D44...

The outer stubs are not the same diameter. Spline count also plays a factor in strength, again not the same.

I'm very familiar with the D60 Bible you linked -

1978 and later Stock Dana 60 outer 30 spline stub shafts (pn 40955) are 1.3125" at the splines (major diameter) and approximately 1.250" at the shank.

For comparison, A Dana 44 19 spline stub measure 1.155" at the splines and 1.060" at the shank

I'm leaving the front axle as it is and putting dually adapters on the rear.

Lol. I'm sure the GM engineers collectively decided to build a bigger, stronger axle and then throw in an inferior "weak link" just for the hell of it.
