When I was 17 or 18 I had a chance to buy a 79 Z28 in very nice condition for $3k but I ended up passing on it cuz my Insurance guy told me he'd drop me after just 1 ticket. looking back on it I should have bought it anyway :whymewhyme: I'd still have it today but that'd also probably mean I wouldn't have my '77 so I guess there's trade offs :)

LOl good story man, we tried to get one several times. My old man was gonna take his entier income tax pay and buy one for me for a grand and throw in some brand new tires off the 76 he just paid over $200 for, but the guy wouldn't for some reason.

Then a few years ago a young punk at autozone wanted my monte carlo before I painted it, and I told him I couldn't let go of the wheels or my motor, he said that's fine, trade ya roller for roller. he had a black 81 z28 hardtopm a th400 to go with it, new headers, was building a motor and liked the monte carlo body style better, had the clutch pedals and stuff all setup for stick shift, but had an auto console, had the 8.5 rear end that was posi, no rust except for a quarter size hole in the floor behind the seat. I wanted it bad, he chickened out.
