I know the thread is old, but, thanks for posting. I have an 81 CJ5 with a 151 and a Vara jet. I too am looking for an air cleaner housing. I think I will try your idea and see how it goes. (I also have a '72 C30 Dump Truck so I kinda fit in this group)

Hey man no problem. There are some people that think I went over board on it but it was something I wanted to try and do. But the way I see it is that I wanted to push my skills and see what I could come up with. I did find one after market one that I really didn't care for either but this one I made is a conversation starter which I like.
