From what I've seen, other than the frame horns, it's pretty straight forward. Fenders, hood, radiator support and related items, wiper transmission...But I;m sure someone else can chime in.

Pretty much all the front sheet metal is different. I've heard conflicting reports about the front mounts being in the correct spot. I plan to make modifications, if needed. I also plan to modify my wire harness if needed, but in theory it should work fine other than two of the headlight connectors not being used (mine has 4 lights).

Not that I recall. Most people just start with a 70's truck to begin with, I was going to go that route also but I already have the '84 so I figured I should just use what I got.

All the write ups I've seen have to do with swapping to an '89-'91 front clip.

I plan on doing this swap as well...probably won't be for a while, but I'll try to do a writeup when I do it.

I think cowl modification is required if you use an older hood. ROUND EYES FTW!

Sort-of, the cowl is built into the hood on the round eyes. It's separate on the square eyes.

Other than changing sheet metal, wiring harness, Bumper you will have to change the wiper transmission. The 81 up use longer transmissions and they won't clear the hood of a 73-87. I don't belive there is any other cowl mods needed. I know if going 73-80 to newer you have to modifiy cowl for hood hinges. There will also be some mods to frame horns to make the old style bumper fit.

I just recently installed that '73-'80 bumper I got from you, it fit my '84 pretty well. The lower bolts could use an 1/8 inch shim though, but that's being nitpicky.

I got a 78 K20 in last week that they had changed over to a 81 body. They had cut around a 1" off front of frame to make new style bumper fit and it looked stock fit. I was guessing the new style frame was a 1" shorter in frame horns why I was Thinking there would need be some mods done on it.

I'm guessing they used the brackets too? It seems the bumper should have bolted right to the original frame, but without the 80's brackets.

They used the new style brackets and all. Guy was restoring truck and had to move so I picked it up for scrap. Shame guy spent alot of time and money on it, but half assed half the job. I't on the chopping block for this week for parts and a 76 Cheyenne10 factory 454 truck
