Round to square

I have a 79 K 20
If i wanted to change the headlights from round to square is it as simple as changing the headlight buckets from a 1980 or would i need to change core support

I changed the headlights on my old '80 K10 from round to square and did not have to change the core support. It's been 35 years since I did it but it seems like I just made some minor mods / cuts to fit everything.
