on my newer cars I simply remove the starter relay. Is the starter relay accessible, if so, where is it?

It sounds like lots of the ideas rely on a hidden toggle switch. Great, but what if a person gets lazy the one time someone decides to steal your pride, you didn't hit the switch?
My comment earlier was in respect to a fob that did that for you. It could be hidden in the dash out of reach and you could install an override toggle in the engine bay to bypass it if it ever fails. The fob is on your key ring.
As mentioned, it could be set up to interrupt ignition, fuel pump (if electric) or even crank with a relay if you wanted.
Here's an example. Wouldn't mind spending more if a higher quality was available.

Has anyone come to a conclusion on column locks or other anti theft devices? Im planning to start driving mine as a daily and would like to experiment with some security before I paint it and make it look nice.

This is a long thread so be sure to read all of it. I drive my truck whenever I need to leave home, about 2.5k miles a year, and haven’t had any issues for five years. I never leave it with valuables in sight, try not to leave it unattended for more than two hours, turn the front wheels before I lock it , try to stay away from bad parts of town and if I’m at a restaurant, I try to keep it in sight. I have an Apple air tag hidden inside. Most police forces are very familiar with them and will work with you to quickly locate the vehicle. I also pray for spiritual guidance and protection.

Good luck, have fun and try not to get too concerned about some AH stealing your pride and joy.

Yup, our 84 Burb got stolen because the kill switch Dad had wired into the ignition, that had a key with an extension to get through the grille, that one time he didn't use it....

Have you guys seen the magnets modern parents use to keep toddlers out of kitchen cabinets. Could use the same concept to keep fully grown toddlers from stealing your truck. Instead of a hidden switch that you may or may not remember to use every time, use a security system door/window contact switch that comes with a magnet. Hide the small contact switch wherever your imagination takes you. The magnet closes the switch, which activates the relay. If wired correctly the magnet would only need to trigger the contact switch to allow the starter to operate, and not have to have the magnet and switch together for the truck to run.
If we can't keep them from stealing our stuff, at least slow them down as much as possible.

Youd have to find the battery kill switch than the one that powers the MSD box and then figure out what combo of switches and/or buttons to even back it out.

I have been thinking about just wiring a 12 volt, bluetooth relay that works off an app on my phone along with an Apple air tag. If the relay will allow it, wire the open side to a red flashing led that turns off when you close the circuit and turn the fuel pump or other circuit on. The air tag, with a small sticker in the window advertising it's presence, along with the flashing led should be enough to make most think twice before trying.

And again I will say this,an instant on alarm,no warning lights,no stickers, leave the doors unlocked. They think they found an easy mark, they open the door, now there's a honking horn, flashing lights and a siren, before they can damage your truck.. Even if they hook up a tow truck, with a mercury switch, they are towing a car down the road, flashing lights, honking horn siren going off, attracting attention to witnesses or police. People are a lot more likely to remember and maybe report a tow truck or even just a truck going down the road with an alarm blaring and lights flashing. Counting on a hidden starter switch, they break your window, smash your column, try to start it,the dash lights come on but no starter,so they short the starter with a quarter,a screwdriver, whatever, all you did is delay them 20 seconds. And even if they didn't get the truck you still have hundreds of dollars of repairs to make, and you've done nothing to deter a tow truck.

Problem is (and one of my good friends is a big OBS truck guy, and a wrecker driver in Houston for the last 25 years) if someone has made up their mind, that they want your truck or car bad enough, alarms and theft deterrents are just going to slow them down (especially if they have a wrecker or a "bent" wrecker driver in the group). Some parts of Houston, you'd need to block it in, and sleep in it with a gun.

My buddy installs these on every car he owns. Simple RFID key fob. Push button ignition. Replaces factory ignition.

Something along these lines to replace the factory ignition would work but also looks to new in my eyes

If the instant alarm signals your phone, you could be there with a gun to block it. Or chase it,And police notified before it's out if your driveway
