On the most recent VGG, a set of factory (early 2000s) 8 lug aluminum wheels were used on an old c30 that I’m assuming had normal length studs, and they had plenty of thread engagement. I’m basing the thread engagement on the fact that threads were sticking out past the nut.

This got me thinking…are there any other aluminum wheels that work with standard length studs? This would mean a minimum of 10-1/8 rotations once the threads start to engage on a 9/16-18 stud.

These are the wheels he used that got me thinking:

I think you can go with GMC/ Chevy factory rims from 2008-2010, where they has 17" alloys,

so you can fit the bigger brakes from those years on too. (those brakes can't go under a 16" factory rim though.)

(but here and there people with 40-50 year old antiques may come up with a brand new set of tires on 4 factory rims that match cheap....craigslist/offerup/
sadly facefoot marketplace seems to be the place for such now, and bed cap toppers...like I "might" have to start an account )

There are oodles of aluminum wheels that fit and allow for proper thread engagement.

The issue is with K10's and their stubby little 7/16" studs.

I’ll try putting my 8 hole ARs on the suburban. IIRC, I had to put longer studs on my CUCV because I couldn’t quite get 10 full rotations of thread engagement with the stock length studs. I could be misremembering though.

All of these had proper engagement and then some to spare:

I think that's about all of them.
