yeah this truck has the tbi on it i also forgot to mention earlier on but the truck when running does smoke out the exhaust burns oil blue smoke stinks aswell lol

not sure the truck has been threw 3 owners the first owner i know had the transmission reabuilt 5 years ago but thats all i know of

i had a 85 monte carlo with a 305 and it starting running the same way as ur truck i did tons of work to it just to find out it was the torque converter all along

well i mean the truck runs good except i cant nail the gas pedal or it will bog out or sputter but it will idle fine it does have a high idle, i notice too when i rev the engine up it slowly revs back down to normal idle

u got me on this one, its got lots of new parts im gettin a lil stumped...... how about the fuel sending unit inside the tank ? it sounds like a fuel problem.

i dont know about a fuel sending unit dont know what that is lol my gas guage does work tho google says the sending unit is with the gas gauge but if it is bad wouldnt my gauge not work?

So it burns oil/smokes, it has a high idle, and it sputters at wot. Have you checked compression? Just verify it's not rings or head gasket.

I think about 150 for a used motor, but all the cylinders should be within about 10% of each other.

With the pcv valve not hooked up will will smoke. Adress the vacuum issues first and then see where you are. Vac leaks will cause a lean condition too and make the tbi compensate adding more fuel resulting in high idle but on throttle it will sputter. Fix those lines and pcv valve and then update us.

If I were you, I would go ahead and pull the Intake manifold, and do all the gaskets from there on up, as well as vacuum lines...That way, you KNOW for sure that all tha bases are covered.

Good advice but he has limited experience doing mechanic work. I think he would be in over his head a little.

If the vac setup is the same on a 350 and 305, and you can give me a couple of days for it to stop raining in the evening, I could snap some pics of my vac lines back there near the distributor. Someone on here knows if they're the same.
