    Opinions on my rust issue

Don't use flux core. For a little bit more money you can get a gas setup. Much cleaner welds.

    Rear springs, best???

    factory Quarters WIW

Thanks. Double the price of repros was my thought also. You don't see much of this for sale so hard to tell what people are really going to pay. If I still had my dads 78 they would be on it in a heartbeat. These were intended for my current burb but making that a winter truck and moving...

    factory Quarters WIW

Anyone have any knowledge of factory quarter panel pricing? I have a set of 70's NOS full quarter panels for a burb, they will also fit the 80's but the fuel door will need modified. I've searched but haven't seen any for sale or completed sales to see what they are going for. My projects are...

    Smokin' Deal!

Thanks for the heads up on the tank. I could probably adapt something pretty easily for the tank. the other option is sectioning in the square door opening I have now. I really only need to repair the bottoms of the quarters but figure with the full quarter off I can work on the inners. I...

    Smokin' Deal!

Just bought 2 full GM quarters for $300 for the pair. Quarters are in excellent shape. Mine are starting to go on the bottoms but for the price couldn't pass these up. Swapping the full quarter will let me do the outer wheelwell and figure out something for the inners. So far I've collected...

    Burb FUll Quarter install

Thanks for the confirmation on the bolts at the top. the spot welds and the rest are pretty straightforward. I didn;'t want to get into lifting the roof section up to slide it in.

    Burb FUll Quarter install

Anyone ever do a full quarter install on a burb. I may be able to get full quarters cheap. I'm looking at the replacement quarter and can't figure out how the top section goes. Does it get installed under the roof skin? Does the roof skin have to be removed or can you access from under the...

    Another steering question

I was wrong!!!! bad u joint. The u joint on the pass side was seized in on plane. Even with the hubs unlocked it must rotate a bit in the housing. Put in a new u joint and problem completely disappeared. Cant take credit for it though, saw a post on a ford site about the same problem.

    Another steering question

got an alignment and fixed 95 percent of the problem. Thinking that was the main problem. Tracks straight going down the road, only get some funny "choppy" feelings on tight turns, thinking thats from the outer edge of my tire lugs starting to get wore funny from the alignment.

    Which mounts???

Agree with what he said. Poly is much stiffer, rubber will give you a smoother ride.

    Another steering question

Recently bought an 88 GMC suburban 4 wheel drive, solid axle in the front. I'm having a problem where occasionally the truck will want to turn to the right or the the left. You can fell the steering wheel wanting to pull the truck, You can hold the wheel and continue to drive straight but if...

    Ball Joints

I just did the drivers side and you definitely don't want to do it twice. I'm as frugal as they come but I'll still pay more for high qyality suspension components. In the long run the price delta is negligible.

    Two tone paint stripe availability?

Thanks. I was thinking they might be dealer only and that is too expensive. I'm leaning towards a vinyly stripe but you're right, the bend at the fender may not lay down right. Maybe this is why I've seen some trucks that the stipe doesnt turn down at the front of the fender and instead...

Yep, good idea to have fuel lines removed, rugs out, etc. I was doing a complete rebuild and basically working with a shell.

    Two tone paint stripe availability?

Recently bought an 88 Burb with 2 tone paint. There is some sticker striping that the factory used to separate the colors, in my case it's a "3 red stripe" stripe. Anyone know where to get this? I want to repaint the truck and would like to match the factory setup. Didn't see anything at LMC...

Best way to get off most undercoating is to heat it up and scrape it off. It's alot of fun. I did all of my superbee this way, propane torch in one hand and scraper in the other. Some guys have said they had success with a steam genie/pressure washer combo. But your right, once it cracks...

    Goodmark parts fit?

New member here. Just bought an 89 suburban (growing up my dad had a 76 and fell in love with the body style). problem is my tenant just backed up into the passenger quarter and dented pretty bad around the tail light, even closing the gap between the edge of the quarter and the cargo door...
