Cool.

5 blades for 2 piece RMS, 7 blades for 1 piece RMS ?
Y U NO Vortex fan?

Edit: @Rusty Nail had me questioning my setup, but going over the parts I ordered online and bought locally, it was clear I got the correct parts for what I was doing. I mean, yeah, it's a '65, and all the 65's I have seen didn't have a fan clutch setup on them. So this is already an upgrade. I switched out the short water pump soon after I got this truck, so that is already a non-stock item, but it sure makes running a fan without a big old spacer, much easier, and the fan is nicely positioned in the shroud opening.

So the 76 fan clutch I got, and the fan blade is for 65-79, it's good to go. This being normal rotation, I got parts for that, no serpentine reverse rotation is on any of my stuff. V-Belts all the way. :rocking:

That's weird. I thought the seven blade fan was desirable..to replace an OE 5 blade...never seen a six blade fan before?
Vortex got an 11 blade fan - That's what the kids want now? And you bought a six..

Six..i think that's weird. How's it workin? AND what kind of fan clutch did you put on it?
What kind of noise does it make?

Here's my "upgrade fan" to replace the OE 5 blade.

This looks like the 19 inch fan blade and clutch I found on ebay. The clutch, if it hadn't leaked, I would have put that whole unit on, IF it wasn't too big for the shroud. The 19 inch will go on when the 292 gets swapped in, and a shroud will have to be constructed to fit the fan.

Got a loan paid off, and I told my wife that I need to get this 292 in Crusty Biscuit. It's time. But I need to get a bunch of parts for it, and I want to acquire them before ******* in chief raises our taxes. She was cool with that. SWEET!

So I ordered a set of these exhaust manifolds...

Still need to get the RV/Marine cam that Tom Langdon developed, supposed to be a good cam for a mostly stock engine, and the highway rpms I want my torque curve to be at when cruising down the road. Eventually I will get an Offenhauser 4-barrel intake manifold, so I can run either a recalibrated Q-Jet similar to what was on the Pontiac 250, or a modified 4160 Holley. 12Bolt Tom has a kit to make the Holley carbs a three barrel. So the I-6 will run on a single barrel for around town, and when power is needed the vacuum secondaries provide the extra oomph to make the six get up and go.

Today I got my RV cam, 204* duration at 0.50, and 0.439 lift. Also got the carb kit for the 2G. Tomorrow the intake is scheduled to arrive.

Whoops, 7 blades, didn't bother counting them...lol...

It seems quieter, and definitely freed up a few ponies. Definitely sounds a little quieter on the open road too. I got the clutch from Carquest. Part #215049

The fan blade was for heavy duty cooling.

I can notice a difference in how the truck runs, minimal difference, but I can hear and feel it. Seems smoother on acceleration and doesn't top out around 3,000 rpms like it did before. Vacuum going down the road is better too, so that means better mileage.

Woah buddy!

I wager you could realize yet another improvement were you to opt for a standard duty unit- opposed to the severe duty part.

I know, I know, but it needs said. :waytogo:

If I lived at a higher elevation that didn't see triple digit heat for half the year, or travel through the desert during those triple digit days, a standard unit may suffice. This truck is a workhorse, a warrior, it has the battle scars of a rough life but keeps going. I don't race the old trucks anymore, so going fast is not a priority, efficient power is the goal for good mpgs while driving down the highway or driving around town, and it sits between 15 to 17 In Hg around town. On the highway it needs more torque to keep it in the sweet spot, but it averages 10 In Hg on the open road. I would still have the flex fan on there if I hadn't seen the carnage or read about people dying from blades coming off. I still believe my flex fan is a solid unit, I just don't want to risk it. Older and maybe wiser, I don't know...lol... This is actually the first time I ever considered a fan clutch setup on my old trucks/vehicles that didn't come factory with it.

If I had full trust in E-Fans I could go all electric, but I just can't trust it, so fan clutch it is.

Checked the tracking this morning and it said it was being delayed due to severe weather. We did get a good system yesterday that dumped snow on the passes, so understandable. However, I just looked, and "Preparing for Delivery" is what I saw! Aussie Speed has made it to town!

Working with a guy to fabricate an adapter plate. I think this might work. He has the template for the base gasket of the 2G, it is not a nice neat rectangle as shown here, but the mounting holes and throttle plate holes are accurate. The Aussie Speed mounting surface is the cross hatched area, and you can see I have the option to mount the 2G in two directions, with sideways providing the best performance on an I-6.

After doing some investigating, the pinion slop/backlash in the HO52 in the parts truck is maybe 1/64ths of a turn. Whereas, the slop in Crusty's pinion is easily 1/4 turn. Yesterday I popped the cover and discovered this.

There was a lot of water that came out before any gear oil did. My guess is that water was in there before I bought it in '05. It doesn't look too bad, but I won't know until I can get the axle shafts loose and 3rd member removed.

It's open, not the No-Spin, but most importantly, look at the numbers 9 - 37! That's right, 4.1111111111 gear ratio! That plays perfectly in to the future plans for highway cruising rpms.

And I have learned that 14 bolt brakes will swap on to the HO52 axle.

My original plan was to swap in my '68 Dana 60 with 3.54's, then re-gear later. But this 4.11 3rd member is a win!
