I've not heard of anyone attempting to re-dye a wheel, so I couldn't say how that'll turn out. I can tell you my '85 and our '76 shop truck both had their original wheels in them, they slowly got stickier and stickier. We'd clean them, sometimes with alcohol and a rag, sometimes simple green/water and a brush, tried Dawn and a brush. It'd work but if it was summer time, they'd be sticky again in a few weeks, especially if they're sitting and not being driven. Finally couldn't take it anymore so we replaced both wheels, one of our AMD repops for the '76 and a Comfort Grip in my '85

Guy drives a new Chevelle into a gas station, kid meets him at the pump, asks how he likes his Chevelle, guy says great. Kid points to the corner of the lot and says "that's MY Chevelle, we call it the Black Belt Chevelle"......had Black stripes on the hood and the trunk.........this was a Chevy commercial in late 67 on TV??????

My 78 K20 wheel was both sticky AND filthy, so I cleaned it with lacquer thinner. It did a great job of getting both off and has remained free of goo for about 8 months now. I expect it will start to weep again eventually, but oh well.

I have been using Wheelskins forever. They take a little while and a little patience to lace up, but they are extremely nice and last for years!

Also one on the El Camino that hides a couple cracks.
I was reading this thread and was going to mention wheel skins. I've only used them once on my 91 cherokee, but yeah, lace it on and it looks almost factory.
