I've not heard of anyone attempting to re-dye a wheel, so I couldn't say how that'll turn out. I can tell you my '85 and our '76 shop truck both had their original wheels in them, they slowly got stickier and stickier. We'd clean them, sometimes with alcohol and a rag, sometimes simple green/water and a brush, tried Dawn and a brush. It'd work but if it was summer time, they'd be sticky again in a few weeks, especially if they're sitting and not being driven. Finally couldn't take it anymore so we replaced both wheels, one of our AMD repops for the '76 and a Comfort Grip in my '85
