dadgummit.....can't find the post a higher up/super regular posted with an H-pipe right behind the transfercase. It was more a wide U shape than H. Anyone remember?

After my muffler "tune" it decided to blow out the muffler case. Went to another shop and had both changed out for $200 welded in.

Should have opted for this:

Checked the fluids and put a few psi in the front tires then went down and got the LS3 back from the machine shop

Top side creepers are a great tool! I finally broke down and got one after 2 lifted trucks entered the picture a few years ago.
Not that it would t have been handy for the countless 4x4s in the previous 25-30 years, but those trucks were generally new/newer and never required digging in. Mostly fluid changes and the odd tune up or an engine mod.
I found I think, the tallest one I could and it’s still too short to be used as designed on both the K20 5” lift and 35s and the Ram 6” on 37s. But it has enough length that carefully over-extending it and a couple cedar door install shims make it work just fine.
Another big truck tool I need to get and not sure why I haven’t is a wheel step. Hooks over the tire and provides a side step. Guess I like standing on upside down 5 gal buckets and stools more….it helps keep the balance and dexterity up when that thing starts tipping or sliding away from you while trying to carefully remove a piece of hardware that you don’t want to drop!!

I need both of these for my '05 now, I can barely reach to clean the windshield at a gas station

I likee, if you look at Orielly's they want $81 each, I got all 4 from Rock Auto for $135.00 delivered. Now updating my Jeep withem too.

Not funny, but too funny! My step stool tried escaping several times today with me on it. I’ll admit at one point briefly wondering if I took the hood off, stood inside the cab and leaned over the windshield if I could get to it better.

I’m 6’4” and pretty lean. Don’t know what I would have to do if I were short and round. Probably figure out how to crawl into the engine bay. With my luck I’d get all situated and then realize the wrench I needed was on the bench 10’ away.

Uh, that would be me (that round thing).

ONE thing that helps a lot, and we need to protect the rust on the truck anyway, is a HARBOR FREIGHT moving blanket. Doubled over, or even tripled, and it hood latch proofs the distributor projects.

After I bought my truck I realized I'll either have to get inventive to work on the engine or spend $$$ for an over-the-engine creeper cuz my step stool one day slipped out from under my feet and Mr. stomach met Mr. Hood Latch. Made my eyes water. But I did buy the over the tire step tool, helps a little.

I used to have a piece of heavy packing foam about 18"X24"X4" thick. I cut a slot in it so it would fit over the hood latch. It worked great when I had to lay there while working on CUCVs in the military. Wished I had kept it now.

Thanks Doug but, I believe that version wouldn't work on my 87, if I am correct. Is that from your 82?
