Wife and I hopped in the Blazer and drove to a new Cruise In tonight. Gorgeous, perfect summer afternoon, beautiful drive. Ran into some old friends we hadn’t seen for a few years, plus won a Door Prize ( I picked a repro gas sign).
I love that '71(72?).

Added the ORD 2.5 shackle Flip and got rid of the blocks. Did new poly bushings aswell. Had to do some surgery on my exhaust to fit it after the shackle flip.

That's an interesting hitch setup. It looks really goofy, but you gain a lot of drop and it isn't hanging way out the back, killing your departure angle.

The frame was cut short by previous owner.. it's on my to do list to fix... but for now the hitch setup works

I hope so. I got a set of kickers 3.5" and have the kick panels with molded spots for 5.25" components. 6"x9"'s in the cab corners. Haven't gotten it all hooked up and going yet, but I hope it sounds good.
I have 3.5” Kickers in the dash of the 86. Whatever the highest power ones are in that size. I recall they offered a couple models. On their own 2 channels of the amp. (Amp tuned properly for power to them little speakers)
They are clear sounding but IMO are not great just on their own.
Again IMO you’ll want the 6x9s and the kick panel speakers doing most of the work and the dash speakers filling in the higher range.
Just something to think about when you’re deciding on how to wire them up and your amp(s) and adjustability.
Although after all this talk about this makes me wonder if their fitment (tight to dash pad) is somehow dampening or limiting the movement of the cone speaker.

Has anyone run these (mine is a 83 454 1ton 4x4) I got a deal on a 3in exhaust and would like to consider these instead of using the stock manifold says they fit

Today, I got some of that fancy 3M automotive emblem 2-sided stickum tape at the local Wal-Mall. Finally re-secured my aged emblem to my aged fender. Should be good for another 38 years or so!

If the same part number covers 2wd, my buddy has them on his '85 C30 and they fit great. He used Remflex gaskets. It's been 2 or 3 years now and they actually still look good and there's been no leaks.

Noticed when I start the 84 the volts on the meter are just above 12v. After it warms up a couple minutes it moves to almost 14v. New alternator and battery. I couldn't find my volt meter to check to see if the one in the truck is worn out. Why would this happen?

Went for an early morning drive to catch the full moon over the bay. Then stopped and bought some header and collector gaskets since I have a tiny leak somewhere, almost imperceptible but I think I hear one. Easy job anyway, doesn’t cost much and gives me something to do while I save up cash for real projects.

That’s great to hear. I’ve been eyeing them up for the 86. Not sure how many more holes I can weld up on a pop can….

I’d suggest checking at the battery as well for comparison.
But assuming it charges fine and battery never goes dead, even if you confirm the volt meter I probably would t worrry about it.
Also when you say new alternator do you mean new new or run of the mill reman? Because I’ve had a few bad experiences with remans in the last several years. From what I’ve gathered, dime store remans literally replace whatever is broke plus $4 worth of new bearings and back in a box.
