Hello. I have two good spare 275/60R15 tires, and I'd like to find a used 15-inch wheel so at least one of them can be mounted. The photo shows what I have now. Is there a good way to describe this wheel over the phone to someone at a local salvage yard? I once heard someone call it a "five-lug, big-lug" wheel. Of course, if there's e-mail, I can always provide the salvage yard rep with this same photo. Thank you.

I’m not sure if they were offered in different widths but would be a good idea to measure your width too.

I’ve seen some late model vans with a similar center cap and trim ring which have been confused with the classic rally wheel so pay close attention when shopping

Thanks, all. I appreciate the information. I'll confirm the width. As I wrote earlier, I have 275/60R15 tires. That's the only size I've ever used.
So the tire size does not tell you the wheel width. You are buying wheels. The tire company will recommend what wheel widths will work with that size tire. If you want to match the wheels you have, you also need to know the width.

Your truck, 6 cylinder, may not even had those wheels from the factory. Yes, they are GM wheels. The truck is 43 years old. Have you had it since new? If the RPO sticker is still present, it will have the original tire size. L60s would be about the same as the current 275/60R15. Most likely 8 inch wide for L60.

I believe that is a 15x8 due to the trim ring shown. The 15x7 and 15x6 wheels use a different trim ring that doesn’t have as much depth. It has a flat surface on the rim edge, compared to the flowing edge of the one shown.

Having said that, if I remember right, a 15x8 trim ring will NOT latch on to a 15x7/6 wheel due to the extra inch(es) of wheel with being on the outside portion of the wheel.

Believe I have a 7” somewhere and will try to confirm, or disprove, what I said above.

Yes, this is the wider trim ring, purchased recently as a set from LMC Truck. I lost one of my original (original to me) trim rings in a middle-of-the night tire blowout last summer.

The door jamb label on the truck is in good shape. The original tires were FR78x15B (more like a "B" at the end rather than an "8"). The "rim" (wheel?) size was 15x6JJ. The truck was manufactured 07/82 — in Canada.

The vans used the 15x7 IIRC, most of the pickups had 15x8 Rallyes. I have a complete set of the 15x8 truck Rallyes available for sale.... This is one, the other three still have the Bowtie emblem on the center caps IIRC. This is the "deeper" trim rings mentioned.
I also have one of the 15x6.5 OBS stock steel wheels, was a spare tire wheel on my Burb. It's a 5 lug wheel as well.
I'm in Houston, Texas.

make sure that the yard is clear its a 5x5" chevy PICKUP rim, as all the chevy OEM AUTO rims are 5 x 4.75" Pitch circle diameter ( PCD ) which is too small and will not fit on a truck.

Buick, Pontiac, Olds rims are also 5 x 4.75

AS already said above, there are a number of different widths, slots, centre styles etc. of rims, even on the rallye type, so if you have OCD and need a matching set you will need to be very careful, and it may take some looking to find the right ones.

Most of the '71+ full size cars were 5x5 bolt pattern too.

Yeah, the 6 cyl trucks, mine included, orignially came with the 15x6.5" rallys to the best of my knowledge. Currently have a set of 15x7 up front and a set of 15x8 in the rear, all with the same 3" trim rings.
