Cripes I’ve been feeding the ‘77 cheapo 5-30 or something I had a couple few gallons of laying around. Now I feel bad. I should throw a bottle of zinc in it….
To be fair, It’s the only thing on the shelves in town (besides Rotella, and there’s varying opinions on that). NAPA doesn’t carry anything besides modern vehicle stuff. O’Reillys used to carry Mobil1 15-50 with ZDDP, but it’s gotten hard to find. AutoZone used to carry regular VR1 but now this is what they have in stock.

I used to use Lucas ZDDP additive with Valvoline 10-40 but then after some research, apparently 5000ppm in a bottle is way too much and can be corrosive.

I don’t mind spending the extra on it, gives me the warm and fuzzies when I fill it up with this stuff. Likely overkill, but by all indications it gets great reviews from the “experts “ and is well regarded as a good oil.

Installed the tailgate finally after plastidip the hinges to reduce the slop and rattles. Probably took 50 dips. The over sprayed rubber hardware cleaned up well with citristrip. I still have to griswold the tailgate trim band before installing. I also will need some white touch up before I install chrome trim separating the two tone.

Did you do the bed liner or have someone do it for you? I've been wanting to do mine. I didn't know if it's better to do it yourself or pay someone to do it for you?

I did it myself after a ridiculous amount of prep time since it had 7 layers of coatings which were lifting. After sanding, I sprayed epoxy primer then Herculiner, which is a two part mix. You will need a respirator if you’re going to do it yourself since it uses an isocynate hardener.

It’s sad but half of it is sticks n bricks stores keep charging more as they get less business. Napa gets over $300 for a set of fuel filters for my diesel. Equal or better quality Fleetguard, Racor or Mopar (also fleetguard) are $120-140 online.
But the kicker is, is over half the time I go for a part or supplies at the store I end up ordering it on my phone before I walk out when they don’t have it.
We keep talking about this at work. I want to support local brick and mortar stores but damn they're WAYYYY high. I'd pay a few dollars more for the convenience if nothing else but when they're charging 50-100% more than online and won't price match, sorry. I've gotta look out for my wallet before yours.

Threw the alternator belt on my 84. Went to O'Reilly to get another one. That bastard said 35 bucks. I lol and said no thanks I like my belt to be 8.99 or so. Said didn't have one. So I'll go somewhere else tomorrow. Auto zone next door was too packed. 35 bucks lmfao!
I got my Goodyear 15445 on Amazon for $14.88, OReilly and others were ridiculous. Oreilly Masterpro brand is cheaper @ 8.99 but you get what you pay for.

E-hemm. I just read and looked at so many great posts and pics in this thread that would be absolutely perfect in the Photo Ralley thread current challenge!
So, yeah.

The gates belts are the $35 ones. We'll see how long the 8.99 ones last. O'Reilly didn't have any other ones I could buy. And that one was too short. What floors me is that it was the same belt that came off but was too short. Auto zone had them in different lengths but it is a duralast belt. We'll see how durable it is. Lol

Recently I bought Rain X "Vision" wipers for the truck. Advance said direct fit. Internet search also says direct fit on some of my searches. I'm starting to think the "Vision" line might not actually fit. I have tried to configure with all combinations with the options of attachments that came with the wipers to the point of scratching my head in denial. My wiper arms have the 3/16 peg.

Does anyone have any experience with this specific type of Rain X wiper.

If you bought them at Advance go back and say to a counter clerk, direct fit? Go out there and prove it.

I never did find a beam style wiper blade that fit the peg. Never have liked the old school wipers so I swapped to J-hook arms so I can use the good RainX or Michelin beam blades
