hello people, recently I switched my 84 c10 steering column to a 81 steering column so that I can eliminate the turn signal/multi function switch. well everything went well except for the wiper switch. after I got the dash cut and the 73-81 style plastic cluster cover installed I screwed the wiper switch on and only get high speed. I removed the intermittent delay module and cant get the low speed nor the park position to function. anyone have any ideas around this? btw if anyone is also interested in this swap besides retrofitting the wiper switch by cutting rectangle into dash and drilling for new headlight switch position, everything else was plug and play. even floor mounted dimmer plugged into factory harness.

You need the older style wiper motor and related wiring-at least underhood. I havent swapped that way underdash so unsure on that at the moment.

'84 was still the same wiper motor, they didn't get the remote washer pump until '85.

A wiper switch from 1981 can't be simply plugged into the harness connector (wiper motor side) used in a 1984. Although the switch and connector may physically fit together, the positions of the leads on either side don't coincide - so that switch is not plug and play.

No big deal though. Each side has 5 leads which all do the same thing. It's just that they are not in the same order.

1981 switch:
PNK = wash
BLK = grd
PPL = Hi Spd
GRY = Lo Spd
BLK/LT BLU = park

1984 harness:
PNK = wash
PPL = Hi Spd
BLK = grd
GRY = Lo Spd
BLK/LT BLU = park

You could change the order of the leads on either side of the connection, but it is probably way easier on the harness side. Just cut, switch and splice the BLK & PPL leads.

thanks fellas for the help. chengny, I have found wiring diagrams on this although not the one you have posted. I forgot to mention I did switch the wires in the connector by releasing the pins in the plastic connector. not as easy a the newer cars with the smaller gauge wiring lol. I will double check everything to make sure they are in the right positions. I think I used a power probe to verify what wire had ground whilethe switch was moved then connected it to the wire in which I applied a ground to to see its function if that makes any sense to you

also I know its off topic but I seem to like your wiring diagram you posted. you wouldn't by any chance have a decent diagram of the ip cluster printed circuit board would you? i'm trying to hardwire and bypass my fuel gauge so it reads correctly
