Did an oil change. Read here on GMSB about the larger oil filters and decided to try one. It holds 1.75 qts according to WIX so dumped 6 qts in. I’ll check it after a short drive and adjust as needed.

While it was drained I ran my boroscope through the drain hole to check the main bearing caps to see if they were 2-bolt or 4-bolt caps, as the block casting numbers indicate it could be either. As expected they are 2-bolt caps. Not concerned, just wanted to know. Heck the way I drive it I could use Velcro for the caps, lol.

Seems workable, will have to swap to a smaller nozzle when I want to print them for real, but the technique is learned.

Going to mount my cab and swap steering columns now.

lol. I may regret it when it comes time to replace!

It fits well, doesn’t extend past the bottom of the oil pan and is tucked away so no real concerns with clearances.

I'd like to see a picture of it installed. Yeah, @TotalyHucked is right, with my little T-rex arms, I might call on the floor jack for an assist on that heavy when full of oil, tall boy. lol

Second round of silicone on the firewall seal to see if I can stop a small leak that gets the carpet wet. Round 1 was successful but not perfect. I haved moved more towards the center with the silicone.

Have not had a lot of rain lately but this weekend may be different as per the weather peeps!

Been plugging that into search engines for over 15 years. Still using standard size filters if that says anything...

My new 'security pass' arrived in the mail today. I have had one like this on the K20 Burb since I was in Death Valley which is only 60 air miles from Groom Lake. The Border Patrol Agents here get a huge kick out of this when I get to the checkpoints...

changed transmission filter and pan today. All was well until I found one of the bolts striped going in...too late to fool with. Be nice if the bolt is messed up, but I doubt it. Looking at options to fix it.

Taking them out, one bolt was tighter than the rest all the way out. I should have took note of that bolt and hole. Got a feeling someone put a slightly larger bolt in one, and i didn't put it back where it belonged.

So my thoughts are, now I've got 2 with different threads. Might have an idea which the other is now that I think about it lol.

I did notice the fluid was not pretty pink. About 2 years ago a line busted on the road and flushed a ton. I filled it back up with about 6qts. Today, it was milky red and slight grey/red.....seperated a bit kinda like oil/water.

I always break them loose, knock hole in the bottom with an awl an let it drain as i loosen it. If you take your time, it won't even spill down the side of the filter.

Then it won't be heavy, cause it'll be (mostly) empty

Regarding the front driveshaft - anyone have any experience with a spacer ? I'd forgotten about these. Might be a way cheaper alternative.
