The shop called and they pulled out the 305 and trans and are ready for the BBC and transmission in the garage. Yay

Found a buddy about 10 miles away that has a hoist I can borrow. So I'll get it this weekend and get the motor and transmission over to them next week.

Ok, I texted the shop when I could get him the motor and transmission and asked him about the suspension. If he had a chance to look at it and see what he needed to do to get it back stock.

He said $1,500 for 2 new leaf springs and 2 new front springs and 4 new shocks, labor is included. I got the quote after he was closed, so I'll call and talk to him about it tomorrow. I think it's pretty fair price. What y'all think?

What brand of springs would y'all recommend? I've never bought any before. I've seen $150 to 300.

For stock style replacements, Moog seems to be a good choice. In my 79 I'm using Moog coils 6454. inexpensive from rock auto and made in the USA.

For leafs I'm not sure on a good brand, I plan on having a local spring shop make me new ones for my 79 (St Louis Spring) as I have been recommended to them from multiple people.

I think it'll look better after I take the air dam off. And if only I got bigger tires when I had the chance...

Thats my fender?!!! If any bigger tire id say 31 or 32 with a max of 33" but 32 or 33 id go to like an 8" or 10" wide rim.

Deaver and Alcan (Offroad Design) are some other really good springs.

Yeah that's a CUCV brush guard I got on craigslist a long time ago, and I just don't really like it on the truck, it makes it look lower. Plus the truck it came off at the junkyard was poorly painted and half of the air dam is covered in blue overspray

I'm looking for a set of 31's so I know they'll work with my rims

Nice weld man! I gotta get me a tank of Argon/CO2 so I can do the same instead of this flux core crap.

Yeah, it's GM's fault. You know, because they don't use pneumatic rears like everybody else.
