Maby I should`nt post this in here as it does not pertain to a SquareBody,so,if I am wrong for posting this in here then would one of the moderators please delete it.
My 93 GMC 1500 that had them little headlamp bulbs that screwed in from the back of the lamp housing and I took the grill guard off,the grill out and replaced the seeping trans. cooler hoses, while I had it apart I noticed that one of the headlamp mounting devices was cracked,so,from all the scrapping I have been doing I happen to have a real nice Chevy 1500 grill and the two headlamp mounting devices, one for each side.I removed them plastic lamp housing assemblies and installed the four glass lamps in there.Got everything wired up and when I turn on the dims the outside lamps comes on OK but when I go to bright the dims turn off and just them bright bulbs is lit.
I`m thinking it would be better lighting if all four was lit when on bright so is what I`m-a thinking is to link the bright and the dim wires together with a diode between the two so the brights can not come on when just the dims is lit.
Now for the techie part of the whole works is,I do`nt know what size of a diede it would take to handle that much ampereage for a sustained amount of hours and then I am not sure that the wiring on the bright side would also handle that much draw.
Anyone gots any advice to this ???? Please speak now or forever hold Your peace.:happy175:

I did`nt even get through the first page of the link You supplied and I found the answer.
A relay, wow, simple and easy and if there would happen to be a strain on them undersize wires, for the high beams, that strain would be eliminated through the relay.
Thank You again.

Your K5 should have them all come on already. They switched when they went to composites... I don't know about mini-quads though.

Nope. Went I put in the new lights I went with the LMC harness...could be why?

Yeah, the LMC harness must be why. I wonder why they set it up that way.

Well Men,with all the scrappin I been doing, that is going and buying,I happen to have several weather proof relay switches.
I,when I had the grill off forgot to put some 1/4 inch screen behind it,so,I removed the grill and instilled the screen into it and now all them wires is right handy,it is time for a wire job.
removed the cover from the relays and connectors on the firewall and am going to start there. That will put the relay under the cover and the power source is right handy in there too.
OK,time to get after it.

I tried a diode

In the DIY autotune kit that I put together for a fuel control system, there were some extra parts, one of which was a couple of diodes.
The markings are Diode GPP 50v 1A DO-41 to which would be a one amp unit.I do`nt think one amp is enough to carry what would be required for two of the 50 or 55 watt bulbs,or whatever wattage they would be,I would guess that it would need to be up close to a ten amp, taking the 50x2 and dividing it by the 12 volts.

I tried it anyway and it worked.but,I was getting some smoke from behind the dim headlamp, could have been from having an underpowered diode.
I then disconnected the diode and run another jumper to the battery and with that power and the brights turned on there is plenty of juice to run the system, through a relay, hooking the signal wire to the bright headlamp wiring.
Thats all for now,more later.
