Anyone know of an upgraded headlight adjusting screw/nut to replace the stupid plastic nuts? Mine keep stripping out when adjusted and a bolt/nut just didnt work right. Is there a metal replacement captured nut for adjusting the headlights?

They usually last a looong time. Make sure you have the correct nut to go with the style of adjusting screw that your headlight assembly requires:

Quad headlights use:

P/N 365270 - nut

P/N 9438150 - bolt

Single H/L's use:

P/N 362379 - nut

I think the difference is in the bolt diameter/thread pitch.

Parts list and dwg:

chengny - thanks! Is the nut for the quads supposed to be green originally? The one listed on gmpartsdirect is green, but the ones on my truck are white. I just want to make sure I get one that will last as I have heard the dorman replacements are junk.

Also, could the tension spring be too stiff, causing them to pull through?

Yes I think the OEM nuts (for dual lights) are supposed to be green. Here is what 365270 nuts look like:

But here are what the 362379 nuts (for single lights) look like:

Aren't they green too? (I have basically no color vising when it comes to green, so I am the last person you should ask for help on this). The only reason I know that the top ones are green - is because of what the ebay ad says:

GM 365270 Headlight adjusting nut green lot of 6 OEM

Nice price too, a pack of 6 for $10 (2 short of the total required)

And Classic is selling the green ones for .49 per and lists them like this:

(1981-88) Headlamp Adjusting Nut-Dual Headlamps

For trucks with dual headlamps. Priced each. 2 required per headlamp. Also used on 88 Blazer,Suburban, and crew cab.

AND I BET THESE ARE NOS. THEY SELL A TON OF NOS AND DON"T ALWAYS EVEN MENTION THAT FACT.

No that's good - I can use all the help I can get. With colors and otherwise.
