Is there a way to clean out a converter it doesn't have many miles on it since it was put in (500 miles) and I'm gonna rebuild my trans.

Was the trans smoked?

The guy who rebuilt it didn't put parts in correctly and took out the roller clutch sprag it has grooves cut in it from the clutch plates. Other than that everything else looked ok.

If there was any kind of funk in the fluid I wouldn't trust it.

Metal flake didn't find pieces but it was enough flake to make me concerned the pics are on another tread I posted about the trans. I was able to find the hard parts on eBay and waiting on another paycheck for the rebuild kit and shift kit. Wasn't sure if I could flush it out.

Ok, I remember seeing those pics. I'm no expert at all, but I definitely wouldn't trust that convertor even if it can be flushed, especially if it was just a stock replacement.

Ok, I just changed my mind, lol. I don't know what exactly can be done, but I would be looking into it also, haha.

To be cleaned well they have to be disassembled which involves cutting welds. I would just replace it.

Ok just checking to see if there was a way to clean it

You could try to rinse it out with something like acetone or something else that evaporates but the centrifugal force of it spinning will have all the debris plastered to the inside of the case and all the fins.

I may try to clean it a see how much comes out. Most likely ill buy a new one. I do need to check if it is true tci like I paid for. But most t/c are about the same price
