My take on things...

245/75-16's...

I put my 265's on the stock 16x6.5 steel wheels. They fit absolutely fine. You only wear out the middle of them when you run a higher air pressure than you need to. I currently have mine at 35 psi. I got to that number by doing a quick chalk test.

edit: 3/4 ton, 4x4, stock height, for reference sake.

Nice looking truck, I like the green!

Which tire did you like better? the 245 or 265?

Probably not the best comparison as the 265's have barely been on the truck for any length of time. But... I will never go back to 245's. Both sets were/are E-rated tires, and they both have the same comfort levels. The 265's are an all-terrain tread so they are slightly louder at speed than the highway tread 245's. With my set-up there was no noticeable power drop or anything like that due to a bigger tire. With the tread and size difference coupled with the wheel choice, I like this set-up a million times better. The old tires were Kellys that I could not stand. Two of them had belts break while the camper was in the bed. So that's .02 more of my cents!

On another note, the next set will most likely be 285's, simply because I have plenty of room and can!

Thanks for the info. Just curious, why did you change from the chrome wheels to the white steel wheels?

I changed for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, I love the painted steel wheel and hubcap look. Trucks and muscle cars just look right to me with that look. It's a combination of old school style and a sleeper vibe that I love. The new forged aluminum stuff looks cool too, but it just doesn't have the character of the old school stuff.

I put this style of wheel in the same category as the Torq-Thrust II wheel. They look good on pretty much everything, but that also means pretty much everyone has them. I have a hard being like everyone else on a lot of things, and this is one of them.

The chrome wheels that were on there started to rust in about 5 years, they were on the truck for 15 years. Every spring for 10 years I would take them off the truck and do what I could to keep the rust from spreading for my dad. It was a pain in the ass. I didn't like the wheels or tires that were on the truck and it was my #1 priority to change them when I got to own the truck.

I couldn't agree with you more. Factory steelies and Squares are great combo. I wish GM used wider wheels for the 8 lugs. 6.5" is a bit narrow.
