Does anyone know what the tire valve stem hole diameter is for a stock '84 C10 wheel? I want a little longer valve stem to make it easier to add air without removing the trim rim. I saw a kit on Amazon which allows removal of the valve stem without taking the wheel off and breaking the bead. Has anyone tried this?
Thanks for your time and help.

It's the smaller of the two sizes. I never can remember what they actually are.

Far as I know, the only proper way to install a valve stem is... from inside the wheel. I've seen emergency replacement stems that can be installed from the outside. But those are not for long term use.

Also, it sounds like you just need a set of valve stem extensions. Local auto or farm store should have them for a couple bucks.

Tire stores will have a selection, long or short stems large or small hole and or extensions.

Colby type valves are designed to be temporary although I’ve used a couple for a long time. Doesn’t seem like the best option to use them intentionally when not necessary (like a quick repair). I generally carry one in a truck toolkit.

Thanks everyone, two reasons an extension won't work: 1. the shortest extension sticks out too far and 2. those extensions are not threaded for a cap so I can't use the really cool caps that my son gave to me which a bow tie on the end.

How much longer do the stems need to be? They do make stainless steel extensions that are threaded and come with a stainless cap too.

Just a lousy 1/2” so I don’t have to remove the trim rings twice a year to adjust tire pressure from temperature change. I’m on my sixth year with these tires and probably have about four or five years left on them. I appreciate your help and concern.
