Because the mild, top of the page cams were often listed as "RV/Towing" for their applications. "RV cam" just means it's got a very mild, but not stock cam.

Towing and low speed torque i can understand, but where's all the cammed up RV's?

RV cam was for low rpm torque, all gas burning rv's are cammed rv's, diesel pushers are all torque as well

Yeah you really need all that low RPM torque when youre screaming down the highway with a non OD transmission at 4000 RPMs lol

Low to get the mass moving, mid range (4000) to keep it moving = rv cam

Lol, mine's got an absolutely terrible 2.56:1 rear gear. It cruises the highway pretty well.

They all had an RV cam in them when they went up for sale lol.
