T-converter and flex plate separation noise?

So today while trying to pull thru a stop light in the snow and 2wd c10, spinning i gave it about half throttle to bite in. It got half way in to the intersection, made a sort of bang and a lurch forward them wouldnt move. Put it in reverse and backed up fine... back in drive it went but started makin a thunk sort of clunk that is speed related. My question is if the bolts came loose holding the torque conver would you hear it slappin around in park or also drive if the truck is stationary? I actually thought at first that the rear blew but the sound i hear is in relation to something i feel in the floor. Ive thought of it being u joints also but its to damn cold and the wind is making it negative so im at a loss. The reason i feel its trans or t-converter related is the think im feeling and sound i hear seems to be under my feet. Anyone got ideas?

I had a carrier bearing break taking off from a stop in my ‘86 GMC 1/2 ton. I could back up a little bit until it all blew apart. It blew the beauty ring off when it broke. It was whining for a long time before it broke so I sort of knew it was going to fail at some point.

I know the truck does have a bad 12 bolt gov bomb in it... all the pieces are missing so its an open diff of sorts... but i was babying it on the way home after and i sped up more and it shifted to the next gear and it seemed to go away after time. Im kinda lost because the sound after the bang sounded like something hitting something, i know some thing is broke but i have no clue where to look. Ive determined it to be from the t-converter back and only while in motion.

Normally, an issue with the torque converter bolts will cause an inconsistent knocking, rattling or ticking type sound. It's often heard when idling in or out of gear, but no noise while driving.

Normally, an issue with the torque converter bolts will cause an inconsistent knocking, rattling or ticking type sound. It's often heard when idling in or out of gear, but no noise while driving.
Do you think a trans failure could do that?

If you felt it in the floor, I suspect a driveline issue.

Inspect the driveshaft, carrier bearing and yoke. Block the wheels and put it in neutral and rick the driveshaft. You may also have stripped teeth off the ring gear or pinion with the spinning and grabbing thing

Inspect the driveshaft, carrier bearing and yoke. Block the wheels and put it in neutral and rick the driveshaft. You may also have stripped teeth off the ring gear or pinion with the spinning and grabbing thing
Driveshaft carrier? If so i dont have one

You have a 1 piece drive shaft? If so and your trans shifts ok then I’m gonna have to say it’s in the rear end

I actually meant to type pinion bearing. My bad. That’s what caused me to have to buy a new rear diff.

Yes a 1 piece shaft. 2wd c10, th350 and 12 bolt blown gov bomb and 31x10x15s

My first thought was shattered low roller clutch in the transmission. It’s a one way clutch, the inner race freewheels in reverse, and is suppose to lock in every forward gear. If you have lots of wheel spin and then the tires grab, the clutch can break. However, that isn’t something that breaks, and then is fine later!! If you don’t see anything obvious with the drive shaft, pull the diff cover.

If you don’t see anything obvious with the drive shaft, pull the diff cover.

Actually one of the first places im gunna look... aside from driveshaft issues..
