Something broke

I have a np203 split transfer case and for some reason it feels like the transfer case will not lock into gear. When u change gears in the truck u can fell the bind on the motor but nothing moves. Then when u put it back to park it has the little grinding sound until the trans slows. Any sugestions?

Sounds like that Tcase will be coming out for a freshening up. Plan on new bearings, gaskets and seals and possibly a chain. Hopefully no broken gears. If bearings have fallen out of gone bad between gears the shafts they ride on, it can cause the gear to drop and not mesh properly. As far as what exactly when wrong would a be a guess without taking it apart to see.
