Actually getting ready to do the same. High rise (stock) cast iron 4.3 Qjet intake. Had to pull the a/c compressor and mounts, air pump tubing and fitting, and a couple dozen vacuum lines/wires, to remove a valve cover. First time off in 40 years.
Jeg’s stand alone hei distributor, no esc connections.
Earlier Qjet w/o all the vacuum actuated or esc tie in “fiddly bits”.
Vacuum “tower” on the front of the intake fell apart. Wonder if I can replumb that for the power brakes…
Truck was special ordered with 4.3, Th400 and open 2.73 rear gears. So much easier than fighting a 700r4 with 3.42s like my 4wd has.
Keep the Qjet 4.3, pop the hood at cruise night, and stay nearby… People’s reactions to a micro engine in a Square are hilarious…
