I think its a special option on all K series, Hotrodpc has an 85 K1500 with the quad shock front end and I have the exact same truck with single shock.

Doesnt really change much helps keep a lil more stiffness in the front end but a good quality shock by itself will do that.

Yep, its just an option, and it was available after 82. Mine is an 85 and has them. Option Z75

I added them to my '88 and honestly, I couldn't tell a difference in how it drove on the street. It rides very nice off the road though.

Agreed. I would think that a single shock like a Bilstein made with today's technology would outperform two of anything built 30 years ago. Some guys like the looks of a quad setup but unless you're jumping your truck the quads seem unnecessary.

So it appears we all agree, unless you're playing Dukes of Hazard in your square, just go with a good quality single shock !!! I"ll still go with 2 since mine is set up that way. I can tell, mine still have the OEM shocks on it.

My K5 has the dual front shocks option but Im running singles. Its makes for a smoother ride......if you can make a SA a smooth ride.....LOL! No issues off road either.

My '83 K10 has the quad shock setup also. Rides pretty good for a 29 year old truck.

I sure like mine, but I'd imagine my OEM shocks are wore out, so who knows with good shocks how it would be. It's a comfy controlled bounce with a bit if stiffness to it. It really feels like a truck. Rides way differenent than my 84 2wd 3/4 ton. Of course that one has a 454 in it too, and more weight up front and coil springs will always make for a nice ride.
