What are the hp/tq figures stock on something like this?

With proper valve springs (if they aren't already), do you know about what rpm actual peak power is and what that figure could possibly be?

I will never so much as crank this 540 inch engine one starter revolution with it's 80 lb valve springs, .480 lift cam.

I was just wondering, because if it's anything like a lot of agricultural stuff, they have a rating at 2k or 2200, no matter how much power they may or may not make above that.

There's probably a lot of people that will scoff at that 339hp rating and not get the point.

My intention is to just cam it like a 540, I'm really confident, it will respond like a 540 lol.

But 100%, it's designed to be lazy AF and sit on a governor.

It's the later evolution of GM's 8.1, after it left the hands of GM. It has a crap ton of power potential, but it is primarily used in busses, stationary equipment etc. The kind of stuff that is rated for a certain rpm and that's where it is regulated to spend all it's time.

Fair to say it WAS an Ag engine, but the planned cam, springs, and turbo should very much leave that rating in the dirt.

I'm interested in this build, I'm planning an 8.1 swap (and yes, I understand it is a jump from the 8.1, but still close enough to be interesting), all of these late model big blocks are pretty cool in my book.

I have a BW475, that 480, even 6 lb of boost will make huge torque numbers, probably less HP, BUT, will pull a house. I sure would like to mess with one, never had a chance to machine a block like this..
