It would appear the theme is Route 66, as 2026 will be the 100th anniversary of Route 66.

This works good for me as I live in the middle more or less of this route.

@bucket I would like to do it next year. Not sure what I'd take, maybe I'll have the 79 done enough to drive by then (doubtful, lol). Otherwise it would be the 76 or the Dart.

I went ahead and made reservations for all locations. Well, except for Oklahoma. With 900 miles to get home, I'll likely get on the road a few hours before I stop for the night. Assuming I even make it as far as Oklahoma, lol.

I've done it in the Chevelle wagon twice now. Maybe this next time will be a Camaro.

The bad news: My friend that I normally make Power Tour stops is working straight through until he retires in 2026, so I probably won't be doing any of the tour in 2026.

The good news: He'll be retired in 2027, so we'll probably be doing most of the stops from then on!

The wife and I are going again taking the 84 GMC C1500 again. When we end up in Tulsa we will be 1441 miles from home according to Google. We will do the same as bucket, drive a few hours back towards home from the last venue.

Things did not work out as originally intended for Andy or my myself. But, my boss and I took the day off of work and went to Gateway as spectators to see what it's all about.

The autocross was mainly being done with the BFG Share the Ride trucks, pretty badass fleet of 67-72s and a squarebody.

It's one thing to do one or two heats, but these guys are hot lapping these trucks. Takes a lot to hold up to that.

And the C10 that got rear ended in Joilet on Sunday. Making the best of it despite the ****** situation. Bumper almost touching the rear tire, things flexed enough to put the bed into the cab, and both the driver and passenger knocked the rear windows out with their heads.

Me and my buddies were talking about PT yesterday. It's been a bucket list thing all my lift but I've heard from alot of people how miserable it is now. Sitting in god awful traffic for hours on end, especially to get into each stop. Nothing super cool at each stop, just speedways typically. Kind of a bummer I'm hearing that more and more. I'd still like to do it with my dad cuz we've talked about that my whole life. But idk if I'd do it more than once. The GM Tailgate Tour is def on my list though

It's been years since I went on the last one, but I made it a goal to only do the "official" start time/venue leaving and entering parade once, and the rest of the time it was just leaving the hotel at the crack of whenever we finished breakfast and following the route, pulling in whenever we saw something interesting, and just taking it easy. I never did the official Long Haul, so getting into the venue and getting the card stamped wasn't all that important. Sometimes just finding a cool looking section of the parking lot and cracking open some beers and BS'ing with folks walking by.
One of my favorite things was that cars that generally get respect (Brand new super-Corvettes, clean pristine '69 Camaros, million dollar Foose-built '32 Coupes) get a passing glance at most, but a clean 87 IROC has 50 guys looking at it, my 85 Monte that was/is rough, with a budget swapped 5.3 done 14 years ago and wires sticking out and peeling paint got double the attention my buddy's brand new Shelby GT500 did, which was awesome.
I'm hoping that next year's schedule comes down here to Texas, I think I could make something happen with Dad in his Vette, if nothing else.

@TotalyHucked of course I only have my single data point and as a spectator, but for us we arrived around 10:45 and we’re parked and walking into the venue before 11:00. It seemed that participant traffic in was fairly free flowing too.

In the metro east it is primarily commercial and truck traffic, not much commuter traffic so that might help things some too. Gateway does pretty large events regularly too, probably helping the situation too with traffic control.

I would like to do the long haul at least once to say I’ve done it. Poverty Tour is something that I’m quite interested in doing as I would like to see the country father west than Fort Scott Kansas.

I’m sure some venues/stops are total disasters in multiple aspects, but like anything I suppose one’s attitude towards it goes a long way.
