sand bags work reasonably well or pieces of green firewood preferably green red oak because that crap is heavy.
Problem with sand bags is the bags deteriorate then you got 250 lbs of sand just laying around and no bag. Makes a mess.

I just shovel some snow into the bed for weight. Then it unloads itself when it warms up.
I’ve done that too. We get a lot of winter weather that is ice, tho, so weight is needed because the streets are slick but not enough snow falls to contribute much weight

in other news, she’s inspected and ready to be licensed.

Yep...that’s on the list here pretty soon. Right after all these little maintenance items are knocked out. So probably in March sometime :)

I’ll have to look. It’s definitely 6 bolts and will definitely handle more than the little truck could possibly tow! LOL next time I’m under there I’ll have to see if I can see any details etched on it to gain more information about it.

Don't worry too much about it. You are totally correct in the towing ability, we just want something more stable than the bumper hitch on it now. Kooper may tow the family boat and that needs a little tougher hitch!........brakes, suspension, steering.....on and on

This one is probably one of those Reese hitches. It’s a pretty decent one. The iron duke can handle the towing capacity. It’ll be the suspension that yells at ya! Lol

That is way better than what my brother in law did when he first got the S10 that I ended up with. He had a buddy put a big chunk of concrete in the bed. As soon as he let out the clutch, it went sliding back and bent the tailgate. And of course that startled him and he hit the brakes.... and the concrete slid forward and bent the front bed wall. What a goober, lol.
