My 86 crew came with a set of speaker brackets in the cab corners. I believe they are OEM. Anybody know what size speakers fit in them? 5x7, 6x9??? I'd like to use the brackets since I already have them but can't figure out what speakers to put in them.

Thanks!

It is 4x10. You can get creative and make spacers to mount 6x9 speakers without too much effort. I also saw someone on here with already made brackets to fit 6x9

4x10? Seriously? WTF is a 4x10? Friggen GM engineers and their fancy ideas...

I'll see what I can find, otherwise I might just mod the brackets.

Thanks guys.

I modded mine but there wasn't enough room for the speaker magnets behind the brackets so you may need to space the speakers or the brackets out a bit.

most people do put 6x9's in there since they don't really make 4x10's anymore

I bought the Kicker 4x10 from Crutchfield. Had to use some spacers for the stock mount because the magnets are deeper and hit the back of the cab. Haven't finished installing everything else so I don't know what they sound like yet.

GM still used 4x10's up through 99 for the roof speakers in the Tahoes/Yukons. Weird size, but guess that's all they could fit without being in the way too much.
