Does this not seem a bit too high? Not including price of the motor and computer. Most of their prices seem high but are name branded stuff so I can see it being near this much for all brand new stuff! I certainly think most of this can be bought cheaper or even slightly used.

Doesn't surprise me considering half that is the labor costs of a shop.

for all the work and new parts I guess it's not that pricey, I'm sure there is other little stuff I'm sure that'll pop up, I can get a motor and computer and stock harness for $600, hard to believe a harness new is $750/$800 dollars though.

$750 for a custom fit harness is about right. I just paid $700 for one with factory sryle wiring spliced in and plug in bulkhead connector simply because I am running out of time on mdifying another one my self. Over all prices look to be reasonable for exception of motor mounts.

I just wish I had an enclosed garage and some tools, I can get better prices on a lot of this stuff through my part time job, and would save a ton on labor doing it myself, might see about getting most everything in the truck and routed and ask them what it'd be if I had them do the plumbing etc

If you have the time, the swap can be done cheaply. I have done two swaps before when time was available modifying the harness my self. My ls1/4l60e was total for $3500(6 years ago) and 5.3/4l60e was around $1500.Both swaps were done in an apartment parking lot.
I got a lot of things acomplished being a broke college staudent.

I'm not the most efficient mechanic but I'm capable of doing it I'm sure, but I was in the $3000 ball park range if I wanted to just do a stock swap, the guy with the motor is including the harness and ecm, and I know a guy to clear the vats system, and can get a tune for less than $200. I may end up attempting it this summer, just need to start ordering the little semi essential parts, only thing I'm not sure about is how to set this up use my 350th, was told I can use it and it's in good shape, never been abused, and shifts firm, I've read about a few doing this and thought why spend the cash on a trans if I have one or two available for nothing.

Th350 will bolt up using a pilot spacer on the end of the torque converter and possibly ovaling the mounting holes on the flex plate a bit. Definately should be ablke to get it done for $3000 doing most if the wor your self. Tbi fuel tank with upgraded fuel pump would supply enough fuel and can yse corvette fuel filter for a fuel pressure regulator.

I am installing a 5.3L into a 1984 GMC K1500. I am renewing the K1500 as well. Below is what I have spent for the major systems of the truck:

actual truck, $750. No engine but had a SM465 and NP208 - but I wanted a NV4500 - used 2002 silverado 5.3L engine 144k, with accessories: $700

(note on engine: I found 2 cylinders filled oil, oil in intake. I think this was upside down for awhile)

truck upgrades/fixes/repairs, including wheels, tires battery shocks, Tie rod ends, paint, etc: $2500

More Steering parts, etc: $200

Fuel tank, AN fittings, hose, fuel pick up and fuel pump, tank support parts: $550

Used NV4500, NP241c, pressure plate, power train other then engine: $1350

Basic engine parts other than engine, ARP bolts, etc: $450

Engine renewal, new LS2 cam chain, sprockets, O2 sensors, gaskets, lifters, whole top and front end to all new parts, etc: $1590

Exhaust system, Schoenfeld longtube headers, muffler, V clamps, $550

862 heads reworked, Comp Cams dual springs with .675 lift capable: $865

Total cost OF PARTS ONLY of above: $9,458
no labor in there, I did 99% of the work

LS HOWTO BOOKs, and tools, lots of LS tools,etc: $954

NV4500 tools: $457
Debating to go for the minimal tranny rebuild kits at $300 or the full kit at $800 (has 9 syncros)
