Looking for a working and useable 700r4 to get my 84 actually moving under its own power. I’ve had 2 good transmission sold out from under me in the last week. Have a lead on another with roughly 100k miles on it that I’m 2nd in line for….. that I missed getting by a few hours.. hoping first guy doesn’t show lol

I’m near Wichita Kansas but willing to travel a little ways for a good deal on a working transmission.

If I don't find something this month, I’ll probably buy new after first of the year when I have some extra money to pay the 2400-3000 price tag.

Thanks

I know this is very unlikely as I'm not close. I'm in Arizona but if you are planning any kind of road trip out this way, I will be selling the 700r4 out of my truck as I'm swapping to a 400 w/GV OD. I'd give it to you free if you could pick up a crewcab headliner board on the way. Id prepay for the board. Only one place makes the headliner board in MO and they don't ship. I know it's not likely but just in case.

What part of Arizona are you and where in Missouri is the headliner board? And will the headliner board fit in a 2019
Honda civic lol. We maybe taking a little vacation somewhere after the first of the year. Not sure it will be that direction or if my wife would be thrilled about a transmission in her trunk but free is free lol

I'm near Phoenix. Alton, Missouri is where Ruddymade Interiors is located I believe. Definitely wouldn't fit in the car as it's a big piece of lightweight fiberglass probably 4x6 but I think it would be strong enough to strap on a roof. I'm actually considering buying 2-3 and selling the extras locally. I would think that would make it substantially stronger to resist flexing without adding a bunch of weight.

Obviously there is a bunch of logistics we'd have to figure out but again just throwing it out there.

Additionally, I find most road trips are significantly cheaper and possibly more fun when my wife doesn't attend.

She’s gonna wanna go lol but i can see where it would be significantly cheaper lol.

The place to pick it up is 6 hours east of me. And you’re 16 hours south west….. she’s not against it cause her aunt lives down that way. But not sure I wanna drive my dmax thru all that…. Cost of diesel the trip about pay for a transmission.

They're a hot item, and have been for quite a while in my area.
I've missed several on FB MP that have come up.

Look for a 1987+

Better internals where it counts
Good advice better yet stick with 88 -92 I've always thought 90-92 to be the best you are going to get. But honestly don't know that for fact. I remember being told that by someone that owned a transmission shop. It's like anything else if the guy that owns an alarm shop tells me this is the best,I take their word for it especially if they don't have a dog in the fight or money to be made. I listen to the people with most experience.

I know the 88-92 are suppose to be stronger. But at this point I just need a working one lol. I hope to drop an ls and 4L80 in at some point. I just wanna be able to drive and work on the rest of it till then.

I did find one out of an 85 Camaro. Says was rebuilt and put in car and never could get engine running right so tore it all out. Said has 50-100 miles on it. Has writing on case says April of 2024. Was asking 1600 came down to $1000… haven’t pulled the trigger but thought of offering like 750 lol. He came down to $1000 on his own when I asked what bottom dollar was.

I could yes. And may end up going that route. Just would like the OD for driving to work. As it’s mostly highway
