What if I'm always hungry? Wouldn't that make hungry me the normal me? Lol
Does an idling fine K series kohler that starts to run poorly under load , and spark at the points jumping and hitting the shrouding/nearby metal sound like a condenser and possibly a gap setting on the points problem to you?

I found the k series battery ignition all share a condenser and I have a oem kohler on my skidsteer I can borrow, clean up the points , gap them, and I think problem should alleviate?

I'm really not sure, but I know they aren't that finicky. Especially the points gap. I kept a little piece of sandpaper in the compartment under the seat, because every now and then, the thing would just up and quit running. I'd sand the points, start it back up and get back to cutting grass. I'm sure the gap ended up set WAY too wide, but it just kept running.

JD D110 started smoking a little the other day with 280 hours on it. Looks like I'll be doing a head gasket and adjusting the valves if needed. Appears to be a normal occurrence for these engines with 200+ hours.

That's not many hours?

Iirc, my old 325 has around 1400 hrs on it and I considered that to be low hours. But it's the only lawn tractor I've had with a meter, so I really don't know. It's definitely low hrs for a big tractor though.

run some lucas in the tank at a high enough percent the thing cant run right unless you choke it

I did that to my mower and its running better, i think that just points at the carb maybe gumming up
Also ensure the fuel pump has a good solid suction line and that its not sucking gas in the pulse hose (shouldnt smell like gas to the crankcase)

Is it a Briggs single cylinder ohv? Those blow head gaskets often. I've changed many of em.

Mmmmmm some Troy Bilt Horse porn for ya.
This is a rare U-Haul variant we scored from Marketplace a few months ago.
It is full blown U-Haul orange instead of the typical red the horses came in.

There are several things that are much heavier duty on the U-Haul than the production units.
Hardend tines, trans case has U-Haul cast in, bigger engine, and the full coverage bumper and lift point.
The tiller cover is supposed to be of heavier gauge steel as well as the logo that is factory drilled in.

It has a Wisconsin Robin 8hp engine on it that is bigger than the production units.
It needed a carb as the fuel bowl bolt strips out and they are like hens teeth to find the "correct" one.
Looking for a carb we found them that were similarish enough in look to take a chance.

For $20, it was a no brainer and the unit showed up.
Max said it bolted right up with no fuss.

Pulled the cord on the front of the engine and that big engine fired right up and went to town.
We have tilled up some of the backyard, but it needs a fresh drive belt as it slips under load.
That comes today.

I'd thought so also, but seen plenty of post's on the web that say 200+ they tend to go shortly after. Cheap enough to fix though. I think it will work out......I really hope so anyway. I paid $1200 for this one at Lowes with military discount about 12 years ago. The price for a new riding mower is about $2500. I doubt it, but if it came down to it, I'd find another motor to slap on.

Hell might even go LS on a beater car with 4 decks underneath it lol. Low Ride Cutter would be the name of it. Column shift for drive, and console shifter for blades.

LT1000 Craftsman. 16.5 Kohler. New carb. All that stuff doesn't matter much though I suppose.

Low throttle (0-25%) and max throttle (90-100%): surging RPM. Vrumm vrumm vrumm all by itself.

If I stay between maybe 25 and 90 its OK. Outside that, no good.

Governor spring adjustment?
