This might sound stupid, but I don't want tires bigger than 31"x 10.5" on stock Aluminum wheels. Would a 2" lift look stupid, or cool? Any pics? The main reason is, I travel a lot and I just don't need to be getting 8 MPG just to look Badass. I also Hunt public land in South Dakota for pheasants and I want to use my burban without having my Dad have to climb a ladder to get in and out.

Thanks!

I don't think we have pics of that combo, but I don't think 2in lift would look bad at all with 31's. I'm with you though, I do intend to have 2 4x4 Squares. 1 is going to be very close to stock height and tire size. BF Goodrich does make a 33 x 10:50 tire that I intend to use on my 4x4 that I'll use more for street driving and bad weather. I don't want to hurt the mpg to bad, so keeping a narrower tire will help reduce road friction and drag, but yet give me a little more lift that I want. If I was to go with a 12.50 wide tire, I'd just step up to a 35in tire, but I think I'm going to save that tire size more for the fun 4x4 I hope to have in a K5 or a Burb with a 4-6 inch lift.

But to answer your question, I think a 2in lift with 31's would still look good. Probably very similar to a 4in lift with 33's. A 4in lift would probably make them look small, so I wouldn't go any more than 2in lift using a 31x10:50..

Been gone for awhile but I'm finally back! For those that don't remember, I have an 88 Suburban and I bought a 4" lift for it waiting in storage for a time when I could install it. Well, after we had daughter #2 and several events where life just got in the way, I finally got around to installing the lift. :banana-mario:

4" Rough Country with 33x12.50's.....35's to come...:evillol:

I think a 4" lift with 34x10.50x15's on a 80's. Would look just as good as some 35's, talking about finding some super swamper ltbs btw. I just feel more stable on wider tires than tall and narrow.

Hey guys, I just bought an 85 short bed and would like to do 4" lift with 325/60/18's which measure out to pretty much 35x13... Talking with my cousin he's saying that 33's are the most I can fit on it without doing more lift. Is that indeed the case?

Depends on how wide the wheels are and how much backspacing they have. Also do you plan to do a lot of off roading, or mainly just street driving.

77 K20 is right, your driving habbits predict tires.

On The street:

4" = 35"
6" = 37"

But either of those 2 offroad will eat your body

Offroad:

4" = 33"
6" = 35"

For most people a 35" should work fine with a 4" lift. Most 35's don't actually measure that big, most people don't have soft and flexy springs, most people don't have really wide rims, and most people drive on the road. But if any of those variables are changed, plan to trim just a little bit.

I'm thinking a 17x9 rim. Mostly street, but occasional light offroad, nothing heavy and no rock climbing. Looking at a BDS lift with new springs and Fox shocks I'm not sure how much back spacing I need, am trying to figure that out as well.

I know my 15x10's with -47 Offset would mess up some fenders pretty bad on 4".
They stick out about 1.5"-2"(rims alone). Which is why i have a 6" lift to put on. And why im going to run 35"s. I looked at 38"s, but for where i live, and for what i do, i would chew up metal or ruin tires.

Ok, plan on trimming a little (it won't take much). I have the BDS front springs and they flex pretty well, especially after a few years of some hard use here and there. I just run 33's and one recently jumped up and attacked the lower left fender. With a little more tire and a slightly wider rim, you will need to trim if you drive over anything more than a curb.

Jep, I'd agree. You can typically put 35's with a 4in lift all day long, but it's going to depend on your wheel backspacing if you have issues. And most of the trucks with 35's are 12.5 wide, so that extra 1/2 in width might come into play too.

So here's and odd question I've got an 89 v2500 4x4 burb its stock height which is good but I'm wondering if a 2 inch lift will also increace my travel length, any thoughts or experiences on how to achieve the extra travel?
