How tight a fit?

How tight of a fit is it to get to the oil pressure sender unit on a 79 Sierra with a 1st gen 350? It looks like a bit of a pinch, or maybe I'm over thinking it.

Doesn't Gen 1 refer to all small block chevy's built prior to like 1992? If that is true, then any 1979 Chevy/GMC 10-20-30 C/K pickup would have come with a Gen 1 SBC.

The image below shows the clearance between the firewall and the oil pressure sender/switch (this shows an 86, but I can't imagine a 79 would be much different). The switch isn't too bad, but it is considerably easier to R & R the sender if the distributor is pulled.
