Probably a dumb question. I just received my headers from summit in the mail, went to install them and took the old manifolds off. I got them off and realized the original manifolds have square ports. The headers from summit have oval ports. they line up great just different shape flanges. How bad is this? Should I return them or is there something Im missing that I can do.
Thanks.

It will be fine, just make sure the gaskets you have are shaped correctly and somewhat match up to the ports on the header. The cheap paper gaskets often have very little sealing surface in some areas, the graphite type are often the same way but hold up a little longer. Going with copper or aluminum gaskets (about 30 bucks) is a very nice upgrade if you don't want to deal with leaks later on.

For the gaskets, should I match the square flanged head? or the oval flanged header for a better seal?

My vote is round gaskets. It doesn't matter if they match the head if it's just gonna leak where it doesn't cover the headers. Match the gaskets to the headers and call it good.

The headers still sit on all the gasket surface...so either way it will be good. I've used a couple different brands and Percys worked the best for me

Ok so I went with the oval gaskets and got it all installed today, BUT! I must have done something wrong. I wanted to simplify my motor, and I had some extra time today so along with the factory manifolds I removed all the extra emissions except the fuel line to the canister from my motor. Now The motor is turning over but not firing. Is there something I needed to change because I removed all the emissions?

It depends on what all you removed, but generally, no. So what all did you take off? And are you sure you got the plug wires back on in the right order?

I stabbed my distributor off Im pretty sure so this weekend Im going to try again. But I think Im going to need to replace the flex plate before I start the motor, its worn. I have a good 3 ton jack, is there a good/safe way to use it? or should I just wait for a transmission jack to be safe? I know the th350c aren't to heavy by im concerned about stability and where to place the jack.
