= The linkage to prevent secondaries was held open so they could move.
= The primaries only open to the point where any further the secondaries would start to open.
= stock qjet and brackets I think
= there is slop in my new accelerator cable, way better than the one I removed, but still seems maybe 0.5" too long.

This doesn't seem right.

I have the same problem. After installing a new qjet I was checking this same thing. With the pedal floored there is still needs to be more also. Probably 1/2" also. The only suggestion I've heard in the last week or two was to pull up on the accelerator pedal and that puts some slack in the throttle cable. Add a spacer/shim over the cable to "suck up" some of that extra cable. But then the gas pedal will sit a bit higher also.

Hope there is a better fix than that.

Stock cable. I'm now using an aftermarket throttle cable bracket. Think it is made by Mr Gasket. I measured it compared to the stock cable bracket and the cable is in the same position. Could be my throttle cable is just stretched out? Can't believe the factory doesn't give any adjustment for the cable.

I have gone through 3 cables and have never had this problem. Is it possible that somehow your throttle pedal is bent? If you know for sure its in the pedal I would try bending the top part of the pedal assembly. GENTLY

I don't know the brand, but the cable was purchased at O'Reilly. It was just slightly shorter then the one i removed.

Should be the stock bracket. Anyone know how far back it is supposed to sit? Then at least i could measure that.

I was considering tweaking the pedal there is a gap between the end of the cable and the top of the pedal assembly

Bent accelerator linkage today. Secondaries open to 95% now, good enough!

How did you bend it? Did you need to remove it to do that?

tried a pipe wrench but couldn't get the leverage when installed.

3 bolts on the bottom and it will come out, stuck it in the vise and just tweaked the top maybe 1/8"

difference is noticeable. can't burn rubber, but at least i can get out of my own way now (stock, maybe rebuilt, 305)
