looking for source for a new power window motor in my 1991 GMC Jimmy full size.
Anyone know where to get one for a reasonable price?
Are suburbans and Jimmys the same motor?
Thanks. Tim

Generally speaking, electric motors are easily rebuildable. Its far easier, far faster, and far less expensive than sourcing a replacement. If its not working, then your brushes are prolly worn out. The replacements don't have to be identical, they just need to be similar. I was in a situation where my convertible top motor was not working and they wanted $550 for a replacement. I fixed it myself in about 25 minutes, using brushes from an old vacuum cleaner.

Replacing an electric motor because the brushes have failed is like replacing your car because the alternator burned out. For some that is reasonable, but for many it is not.

Iirc, my local Ace Hardware sells a few different sizes of brushes.

Maybe he doesn’t have a motor. Could be doing a manual to power conversion.

Next time I have a window failure of some sort, I plan to use them also. I might even just jump to the 4 windows plus the tailgate window on the burb. Might turn out to be $1500 well spent!

Did you use the factory harness and switches?

They supply a harness and switches that you just run power and ground to
