got a set of calipers for the 86 k10 a few years ago from Autozone. I purchased paint to paint them also as well as powerstop pads. Opened the box and they were painted silver already! Thought dang....save me some time will ya. Anyway, after replacing both, I'd never had brakes like that since I've had the truck....and I'd gone through 2 sets of pads prior. I'm sold on both.

For the C30 and K30 crowd, there's a GM caliper that can be used as an upgrade. The application is '02 C3500 HD (the straight frame, medium duty trucks). Slightly longer brake hoses are likely required. It's one part# caliper for use on either side.

What's the part number? Have you installed yours yet? Did they end up needing that longer hose as you thought?

Well, doesn't the large stock piston extend past the brake pad backing plate on 2 sides? Does that surface area count in the equation?

I don't know anything about the Wilwood's or brake science but my Dad just bought a set of Wilwood calipers and 2 piece rotors for his '56 Chevy and it seems like quality stuff...
It’s the surface area of the piston that matters. Could be a 1/2” contact patch it would exert the same pressure.

Having ran their D52 calipers (77 short bed) their metric single piston calipers (Monte Carlo) and now there fixed 6/4 piston stuff on the current C10 They are worth the swap if you want a bit better braking but want to retain your stock spindles and disk/drum setup Without going full brake system swap and spending a ton of cash.

I highly recommend you make sure the rears are in good working order as well, any truck with new parts up front and barely or non working rears can and will swap ends in a hurry in a panic braking scenario been there done that.

I would bet 90% of the trucks on here would benefit greatly just switching to a good performance pad. The right pad can make a big difference in braking.

I just installed Power Stop Pads on the front to replace the Semi Metallic ones that were too aggressive on ice and snow. The ceramic are much better, however when wet and sitting overnight they are very grabby until. they dry up and heat Up!!

Has anyone used these pads? And if so, how do you like them? I won them in an online automotive photo deal, and are supposed to be for my 84 K10.

I’d forgotten about the “contest” as it was over a year ago, when asked for my mailing address. Recently received these in the mail.
