I've found one (without hubs) local for $750 and I haven't decided whether it's a deal or not. From what I understand these are a few inches wider the SRW 1-ton but how much? I would like to run humvee Beadlocks in the future and I'm almost sure I'd need these. Also, how wise are these in comparison with the DRW 14B or Dana 70?

Maybe 8" wider WMS to WMS (wheel mounting surface) than a SRW D60.

Not any wider (the axle itself, that is), the hubs have a different offset due to the wheels is all.

What do you mean by "without hubs"? What's the gearing? So far, the price seems steep to me.

As in locking hubs.

That's what I suspected, but that would help with the heinous backspacing of the Humvee wheels.

If you look at the ends of the axle (also known as hub assemblies, not to be confused with the lock-outs) you can see the wheel mounting surface, and the flange for the rotor sits back closer to the knuckle. Some people machine or cut/grind off the WMS and run long wheel studs through the rotor and hub flange to make it SRW. But that would give you an idea of how much wider it is than a SRW axle. By the way I paid $700 for my DRW, then about $550 for the hub assemblies w/rotors, studs and bearing races.

Interesting...My book is saying to run a DRW Dana on an SRW truck, just change hub assemblies.

Yep.

Generally, the SRW is more desirable and because of that, DRW d60's bring less money. SRW hubs are expensive.

I sold my complete SRW D60/14FF combo for $800 a year or two ago. That's why I think $750 is high for just a DRW d60 without lockouts.

The more I look around, the more I see its not worth it. Most srw Dana 60s around here are Fetching in the neighborhood of $1000.

Is that just what they are asking, or are they actually selling for that?

That's what he's asking in the local free classified paper. I might wait it out a few weeks and see what he drops to. Seeing as how it needs brakes, locking hubs, and if I had to guess, kingpins and seals, I may try to lowball him.

I gave $750 for my SRW D60 complete. Just had to get the rotors turned and new brake pads. That was about 9 or 10 years ago! I guess it depends where you live. I see them from time to time at the swapmeets around $1000 most people will come down on the price if they really want to sell it .
