Fuel bowl vent blocked,Float sticking or set a lil high

Sent from the dust in front of you!

Yea, it had been tempermental since we first fired the engine for the first time. Very first crank the needle stuck open, and flooded thrue the vent. So I tapped it a couple times and it worked fine up untill this last problem. Im guessing it stuck again. But if anything it gave me a reason to go thrue a carb for this thing. And this one is Pre-computer.

So are you going to let the tire hang out, or you going to get different offset wheels and tuck the tire?

So are you going to lift the rear end and let the tire hang out, or you going to get different offset wheels and tuck the tire?

Thats late 60-70's muscle look. What you cant tuck hangs out. Those are a 12" tire, and in that picture its 1/4 inch from rubbing the wheel well/frame.

Heres an example of how i mean...., And personally, I LIKE THE LOOKS.

Shoot, I was a kid in the 80's and fat tires out back was still popular then, I loved it. It's obviously a dated look now, but I still kinda like it.

Now if the car had half of Autozone's accessory isle plastered on it...

Oh, and as of today, its legal to drive. The exhaust isnt on yet, but it has some makeshift glasspacks under it that are just slid into the reducers.

Drove it to work today, and it was running like ****, so when i got to work i popped the hood and i had 2 plug boots come off, so i put them on.

Then after work i started it up and it seemed ok, but after a little more throttle it seemed to hickup, SO once i got out of residential I opened it up and it pulled decent at higher rpm's.

It ran weird the whole way home since i never got above 2.8k, so once i got home i checked to see if i had spark at the distributor, and all 8 sparked. So then i let it cool down, then pulled plugs. All 8 were carbon coated, black as black. So im thinking that when the other carb was flooding, it just covered the plugs. Cause it hasnt seemed quite right since it happened a couple days ago. Also one plug wire started sparking thrue to the header.

SO now she's getting new wires and new plugs. Then hopefully she will run better.

Oh, and I ran compression on all 8, they were good, so i didnt kill a valve.

Not good........

New plugs and wires today, still had a miss to it, so I was cenceling out cylenders to figure out which wernt firing. 7 & 8. Wires are good and plugs are good, i checked them for spark. SO now that means fuel, cause all 8 pumped 150psi yesterday.

So im wondering if its not getting fuel to the back 2. So im gonna throw another carb on it thats good and we will see if it helps.

Also, yesterday when I was coming home and I got on it, my secondaries opened, and it ran better, so im thinking this carb is leaned out, and it might be internal(carb).

ALSO, the back tubes arnt getting hot other then block temp. I can hold them and not feel much other than warm block, they arnt near as hot as the other 6

IT LIVES, we barrowed a couple carbs from a buddy that he knew was good, and The first one i stuck on fixed the problem, so im guessing mine had an internal vacume leak somewhere that was leaning it out and only giving enough fuel to fire the closest cylenders.

To bad she missed her date with the exhaust shop cause of this.......
