Cool write up !!! Did your truck run any better??? I might add, when adjusting as you mentioned turn the screws all the way in til they stop. This is true, but when you feel the stop, do not tighten them. You can damage the ends of the adjusting screws and their seats if get them to tight. You just want to touch the end and call it good. Then start backing them out.

Seems to be doing well, The truck idles like its computorized and starts in cold weather. I just need to adjust the choke a little more one of these cold mornings and it should be perfect.

Nice write up Iman. I got 1405 version which the same as the 1406 except the 1405 is manual choke. I bought it for 20 bucks froze up. I kept soaking it in liquid wrench and working and after 2-3 weeks doing its completely freed up now. I gonna buy the automatic choke conversion kit for it and rebuild it. Here's pics of it.

I would leave it manual choke, Dave. Mine is auto choke and I hate it. There's a certain time of year where it's not really winter and not really spring, same in the fall, where you can't get the thing adjusted right. It would be so much easier to just pull the choke knob. Super cold winter it likes to idle really high sometimes too. Just my $0.02 but I would leave it manual choke if I were you.

agreed every carb I buy or use is either no choke(wired open) or manual choke.

They are simple to rebuild, I never touched a carb other then bolt one on the motor and I yanked it apart and rebuilt it, still running great to this day.

All I have to is edelbrock better do better than holley. I had a 2bbl manual choke on 72 ford F100 360 ran fine at the beginning then at the end before I got rid of it the damn thing ran like crap and kept cutting out me. Plus me leaving along the road somewhere. The was my first and last holley that I'm using on any carb engine I have or own.
