Well it could be the power brake line. Start from the modulator and follow it up to the other end. It should be to hooked to manifold vacuum.

Ok traced it back and it is hooked to manifold vacuum. I guess the next question is could this modulator be bad?

When you said you tuned accel pump, so is the arm barely touching accel arm and no pressure is being forced upon it.

Out of the three holes on the linkage it is in the one closest to the intake what I would say is the bottom hole. It seemed to be more responsive after I did that. I thought about moving it the other way and seeing if that's any better. Can't really hurt anything so I figure y not try it

Try adjusting the arm to give less of a shot. You can also test this with the arm disconnected and see if you still have the bog

I meant the adjustment screw. You're talking about the pump cam..you should put the pump cam back then adjust the accelerator pump arm to barely touch the adjustment screw.then go back to the pump cam.

Ok so I broke down and bought a vac gauge for testing purposes. At idle, at temp the vac gauge is reading around 7. According to the instructions that came with it it should be between 17 and 22 for a properly tuned carb. Ok great so I go to adjusting the screws and get little to no change. Currently waiting for the exhaust to cool enough so I can check manifold pressure by the modulator on the trans. I'm kinda stumped with this damn carb. Anybody?

Is this a built motor with a lumpy cam? What is your elevation? Answer these 2 questions then we will move on

Yes it has a pretty strong lope to it. Elevation is flatland. Illinois so I believe I fall in the Great Plains region

For every 1000 feet avove sea level you can subtract from that 18-22 inches of Hg (mercury). A lopey cam indicates overlap of valves further reducing inches of Hg. I am at 4200 feet and my truck has 12-14 inches of Hg. Small cam. 7 is an indication of either and extreme cam or an intake manifold leak. Does the needle bounce at all?

Does bounce a little from about 7-9 not real big bounces here is the specs on the cam.
You must be registered for see images attach
. I'm around 7-800 ft above sea level. Not enough to make a difference really correct?
