Carb help on a 85 c10

I have an 85 c10 with a 350. I’m new to these trucks. I got a 670 cfm holley avenger. I believe i have my vacuum lines hooked up right. In the picture shown, pcv to valve cover, power brake to break booster, and full manifold to my distributor. I had my fuel line disconnected just to make sure that my previous problem (which was my quadrajet not working anymore) was actually the issue and after cranking for a while it seems like there’s barely any fuel that came out, so i’m not sure if my mechanical fuel pump is going bad or if that’s how slow it actually flows. I have pictures of how everything is hooked up, i haven’t wired in the electric choke in the picture yet. Any tips? If buying anything to make it faster/more reliable please let me know. I also ordered the 20-2 ball assortment so hopefully i can use that to attach my throttle cable.

Also can I just cut and attach the wire that came with it to the original wire that went to the choke on my quadrajet

Vacuum advance on full manifold may not work right with your (I'm assuming) stock distributor setup. Look for videos on "total timing" and an old 'vette restorers article on advance.

Fuel dribble sound suspect. Get a diagnostic fuel pressure gauge (some vacuum gauges will do it). They're cheap and plentiful. Google search says it should be between 4 and 7.5, also check your carb specs.

That wire should work. Check that it's +12v at key-on and 0v at key-off.

Fuel pump should shoot fuel out of the engine bay if its good. Parts store fuel pumps are complete junk and are not to be trusted. I started using the higher end Edelbrock pumps.

The wire will work for the electric choke yes.

I ran my vac advance to the ported nipple you have plugged off on the passenger front of the carb.

Don't trust the vacuum plugs either, I use hose and shove a ball bearing in the end.

If wanting to use factory air cleaner you'll need to get a spacer.

I always suggest an Afr gauge and at least check with a vacuum gauge if you don't want to install one.

My 670 was a little lean on the primaries out of the box, at about 2,000 ft above sea level.

Put a vacuum gauge on the inlet side of the fuel pump,see if your pump is pulling vacuum. If it is check all the hoses and lines between the tank and the pump. If there is a small leak the pump will pull air. But on the suction side of the pump there is no positive pressure so there may not be a easy to find visible leak. Also if you do condemn the pump,check to make sure the pump pushrod is actual moving~ 3/8 inch. The fuel pump lobes wear off the cams sometimes,then have to replace the cam or run an electric pump.

Getting the simplest basic info is always the hardest…
