Please watch the entire video to get the secret sauce... the issue is run-out, from various manufacturer's.
That means the top face is not aligned with the bottom face or the concave cut into your lifter face is wrong.
It also means the flat tappet LOBE TAPER "is a big deal".
The same core as everything else, from the same company forging the cores, combined with any aftermarket cam grinder, who failes to taper properly, can result in repeated bad cam issues. With a good working micrometer, we can verify and quality control these parts, BEFDORE we install them. These videos provide the numbers to make your flat tappet inspection process a required behavior.

Nobody who has a caliper should ever install a flat tappet cam, with improper taper.

Lifter run-out is a different story. I suspect we see so many lifter manufacturer's, with customer complaints from lifter failure is the lack of QC on run-out. It's not a co-incidence the more you spend the better your lifters are. It's the cost of final inspection.
